1. Gretl

It's a cross-platform software package for econometric analysis, written in the C programming language. 


2. FreeMat

It's a  free environment for rapid engineering and scientific prototyping and data processing. It is similar to commercial systems such as MATLAB from Mathworks, and IDL from Research Systems, but is Open Source. FreeMat is available under the GPL license.


3. Draco (1.4)

It's a free software providing a simple interface for accessing many tools common to econometric analysis.


4. EasyReg International

It's a free software designed for use in empirical research, and for teaching econometric.


5. JMulTi

Interactive software designed for univariate and multivariate time series analysis.


6. R

It's a programming language and environment for statistical computing and graphics.


7. Matrixer

It's a piece of software especially suited for teaching econometrics and doing medium-scale applied research. It is small (in physical size, not in capabilities) and has smooth interface. 


8. Octave

Octave is a clone of Matlab. As such it has very similar commands and functions. The main caveat is that code written by Matlab users for Matlab sometimes works with Octave.

  1. The simplest way for a malware to cause intrusion in your computer is through internet and specifically emails and downloading websites. Most spam mails contain attachments which are infected with the malware. useful link

  2. I have been using Gretl and SPSS which, in my opinion are really user friendly. I cannot tell the same about R. Free trial of SPSS is available here: www.apponfly.com/en/ibm-spss-statistics-standard?EZE Great solution for Mac users.
