This article explains how to swap contents of cells in MS Excel. The excel trick is shown in the image below :-

Swap Cells in Excel

To swap the cells in the same column in Excel, you can follow these steps:

  1. Type values in cell A1 and A2
  2. Cut the content of cell A1 by pressing the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + X
  3. Go to cell A3 and press CTRL SHIFT + (plus key on the numpad)

By following these steps, the content of cell A1 will be moved to cell A2, and cell A2 will be moved to cell A1. This effectively swaps the contents of cell A1 and A2.

Swap Cells in the Same Row

Similarly, if you have data in the same row, for example, cell A1 and cell B1, you should proceed by cutting the content of cell A1 and then go to cell C1. Please refer to the steps below to swap the cells in the same row.

  1. Type values in cell A1 and B1
  2. Cut the content of cell A1 by pressing the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + X
  3. Go to cell C1 and press CTRL SHIFT + (plus key on the numpad)
