Pinterest is an online “pinboard” that allows users to share and exchange ideas on products and trends they find exciting. Users “pin” images they find on the web to their Pinterest board, sharing them with their followers. Every image on a user’s pinboard is hyperlinked to the original source, driving traffic from Pinterest to external sites.

Pinterest is the third-largest social network behind only Facebook and Twitter.

4. 70 percent of brand engagement on Pinterest is generated by users, not brands.
